Focus on rehabilitation, not harsh punishment…

One of the commissions Jesus gave us was to look after the prisoner.

As Christians, we are of course concerned with justice, we are realistic that some should not be and cannot function as part of our society. But first and foremost, our attitude must be one of compassion – for even the hardest heart .

We are strongly against the use of torture or inhumane treatment for any reason, for prisoners at home or abroad.

Scriptures reflecting the values:

Matthew 25: 36
Jesus says “I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

Hebrews 13:3
“Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”

Matthew 23:23

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
